Project description
The project proposal is looking for the proposition of a new urban experience of international class defined by a fluid and dynamic, highly interactive mass. The design want to create the necessary mix between users and exhibitors, going to define the structure as the physical place for a "market" with in common knowledge, exchange, and business.
The project is the landscape, the important morphology of the territory of South Tyrol, 70% covered by mountains, which located in the Dolomites of Sesto, a universal symbol protected by UNESCO. The three massifs that rise up with impetuosity on the valley, are a living element that seasonally changing her dress, and incorporate the dynamics of life, with the flow of streams, waterfalls, rivers ...
and suddenly everything becomes so sculptural, precise, polished, pure, and white.
The formal and chromatic intensity is the key ingredient of the project, where a single surface frozen proposes the smooth opening of the rock and the delimitation of space, going to define the relationships between the representation for the inner space of consumption, the weekly partner and that of the day.
The structure was designed as an organism that has adapted itself to the context and primarily elements that demarcate the space rented from South Tyrol for the event, developing a plan that allows movement without physical and visual barriers. In addition the configuration define in according a weekly planning matrix, permit an easy a fast arrange of the interior space in relation to the event scheduled. Thus, It constitutes a vital space 24 hours a day, which enhances the symbiosis between the various partners in the host pavilion.
The shape has been optimized going to simulate on a grid of 30 x 30 cm placed on the area of interest, the interaction of simultaneous agents that move in an intelligent manner on the grid.
The agents are formed by the combination of the number of primary spaces and by the number of district communities of South Tyrol (Val Venosta, Burgraviato, Alta Val d’Isarco, Salto-Sciliar, Oltradige, Valle d’Isarco, Val Pusteria). The organization matrix defines a mathematical topography that highlights where the interactions will be more intense and where fewer, scoring in a dynamic connection between them and the otimized circulation of the users.
The sketch design takes so a more powerful and meaningful, going to subscribe spatiality which the structure will be made up by increasing the feelings generated through the folds of the entrance, and giving rise to some curiosity to discover ..
In the night scenario, the sign is emphasized through an element of green, white, red light, which is projected at the top of the mountain ridge, and is attracting the attention of every visitor that walks along the Cardo.
The feasibility of the project is ensured through the use of the latest technology either in design and fabrication, in combination of the most important material of South Tyrol: the laminated wood.
The mix of the landscape, the Alpine technologies, the sustainability, go to define the architecture as an incubator of the seven key values which the South Tyrol wants to propose to its visitors, and demonstrating the character and daily life of the inhabitants. People respectful of their habitat, that have invested with determination and ambition, to realize a sustainable environment.
